When Jesus went to John to get baptized in the Jordan River in the year 29 C.E., John saw that sign. God promised to give John the Baptizer a sign so that he would know who the Messiah was. The word “Messiah” comes from the Hebrew language, and the word “Christ” comes from the Greek. Why is it important for you to know Jehovah God and Jesus Christ?ģ It is important for you to know the truth about Jesus. Some say he was a good man, some say he was a prophet, and some believe that he is God. But most people do not know what Jesus was like as a person. It doesn’t mean that you know every detail about his life and what he is really like.Ģ You may have heard about Jesus Christ, even though he lived on earth about 2,000 years ago. But just because you know his name doesn’t mean that you know him well. THERE are many famous people in the world. (a) Do you really know someone famous if you know only his name? Explain.
